Our pediatrician told us to wait until at least five months — but preferably six — before starting solids. Even though Calvin is still getting up every night to eat and reaches for our food all the time.
Of course I'd already tried giving him rice cereal the day before our appointment. And then gave it to him again last week.
Bad mommy.
Or, more accurately, tired mommy who is willing to break the rules for the possibility of a full night's sleep.
He's cute, isn't he?

Aww, Abs! Love the wishful thinking! The solids didn't work out for us in the sleep department... I found out that babies' brains just click to "I want sleep in longer chunks at night" right around the same time as their brains say "I can make enzymes that process food!" So solids and sleep go together because the baby kicks his own system into gear. But I'd be thrilled for you if you could actually get one to cause the other!
He is SO cute! Yeah, let me know if it helps sleep...never worked for us! I bailed on rice, too-we are a straight oatmeal family. :) Love that cute baby boy! Thanks for posting even though you are super busy!
Oh, it doesn't work! No change whatsoever. But I figured it was worth a shot. And he is really adorable with food all over his face. :)
He is so stinking adorable!! Love him. Miles got worse with sleep with rice cereal, but better when we switched to baby oatmeal. Rice upset his stomach. Go figure.
